Contact KnowSips

KnowSips is run by a small editorial team. Email is the way to reach us, and we read everything that comes in.

There is no contact form, and no newsletter sign-up. That is deliberate: a form would mean collecting and storing your details, and as our privacy policy explains, the site is built to hold as little about you as possible. An email leaves the record in your hands as well as ours.

It also means there is nothing here that can quietly fail. A form can be broken for weeks before anyone notices, because the messages simply stop arriving and silence looks the same from both ends. An address either works or bounces, and you find out immediately which.

Write in English if you can, because that is what we can answer properly. If you cannot, send it anyway in whatever language you have — a correction with a page address and a number in it is understandable in almost any language, and we would rather have it than not.

Corrections come first

If a figure, a ratio, a temperature, or a claim on this site is wrong, tell us. This is the most useful message we receive, and it is the one we act on fastest.

To make a correction easy to act on, include:

  • the page address, or the exact heading you were reading;
  • the sentence or number you think is wrong;
  • what it should say, and where that comes from if you have a source.

When we confirm an error we change the article itself rather than noting it elsewhere. See our editorial policy for how that works.

A correction does not have to be a hard fact to be worth sending. "This says green tea should be brewed at 80 C but the temperature guide says 70 to 80" is exactly the kind of internal disagreement we cannot see from inside the site and you can see in thirty seconds. So is a figure here that contradicts the packet in your hand — tell us what the packet says, and which product it was.

You do not need to be certain, and you do not need a source. "I think this is wrong and here is why" is a perfectly good message. We will do the checking; the useful thing you have that we do not is the fresh pair of eyes.

Other things worth sending

A question we have not answered
If you looked for something and it is not here, that is a real gap and we would like to know about it.
A guide that is confusing
Unclear is a defect even when the facts are right. Tell us which part lost you.
Something broken
A dead link, a missing image, a page that will not load, or anything that looks wrong on your screen. Mentioning your browser and screen size helps.

What we cannot help with

We cannot give advice about your own health, diet, medication, allergies, or caffeine intake. Those questions need someone who knows your situation, and a drinks reference is not that. The disclaimer sets out where that line sits and why we hold it.

We also do not accept paid placements, sponsored guides, guest posts, link exchanges, or product submissions for review. KnowSips does not review or rate products at all, so there is nothing to submit a product for.

Those messages arrive constantly and they all get the same answer, so to save you writing one: there is no rate card, no minimum offer that changes it, and no arrangement where a link is described as editorial. The editorial policy commits the site to that in public, which is the point of putting it there.

We cannot recommend a brand to buy, settle which of two products is better, or tell you what is in a specific packet — the manufacturer's ingredient list is the authority on that, and the disclaimer explains why we do not try to be. What we can do is explain what the category is and what the words on the label mean, which is usually the question underneath.

Reporting something broken or unsafe

If you find a security problem — a way to reach something that is not published, or anything that exposes another reader's request — send it to the same address and give us a reasonable chance to fix it before publishing details. Our terms of use set out the protection that applies to anyone who reports an issue in good faith.

Copyright questions go to the same place. Tell us the page address, the material concerned, and what your rights in it are. We would rather fix attribution or remove something than argue about it.

What to expect

We are a small team, so a reply is not instant. Corrections are looked at before anything else. If a message needs no reply, we may act on it without writing back — a fixed article is the better answer, and you will see the change on the page rather than in your inbox.

Where a correction turns out to be right, the article itself is changed and its updated date moves. We do not add a note at the foot of a page recording that it used to be wrong, because the version a reader needs is the correct one.

Where we disagree with a correction, we will say so and say why, rather than quietly leaving the page alone. A message that changes nothing still deserves an answer.

Your email is used to reply to you and for nothing else. It is not added to a list, because there is no list. Our privacy policy sets out how long a message is kept — while the matter is open, and after that only where it records a correction we made.
